In preparation for a summer of football, the Nike Sportswear footwear design team joined forces with Nike Football to explore the needs of some of the world’s greatest footballers when they leave the field of play. Focused on solving the needs of the athletes, the result is a technical solution called Torch.
Torch is an extremely lightweight and breathable material which made each foot of Lunar Rejuven8 Mid weighted around 175g only.
In addition to this line up of reinvented classics, Nike Sportswear pushed its Torch material even further to reinvent a 2008 Beijing innovation, the Rejuven8. According to Nike Sportswear Footwear Design Director Jesse Leyva, “We became obsessed with the idea of one-piece and seamless construction,” which resulted in a completely redesigned shoe that has been dubbed the Nike LunarLite Rejuven8 Mid. An ideal combination of lightweight comfort, structure and breathability, the Nike LunarLite Rejuven8 Mid features an ultra-lightweight, highly technical, engineered Torch upper fitted to a Nike LunarLite foam sole. In order to produce this one-piece construction, the Torch pattern had to be customized to provide an ideal fit for each individual shoe size. “The Vapor football boot is very much in the same zone as the Nike LunarLite Rejuven8 Mid. The linings are extremely minimal. It’s all about reducing weight, but providing stability for the quick player.” The Nike LunarLite Rejuven8 Mid is offered in numerous solid colorways for easy combination with team colors, and features prominently in six collaborations launching in celebration of the greatest football tournament. The Nike LunarLite Rejuven8 Mid is also ready to run and has been enabled for Nike+.
