Today Nike is introducing a new shoes designed specifically for the athlete who runs to train for their sport: the Nike Air Max 2009+. The shoe builds on iconic product – the Air Max 360 – while providing performance driven technology insights from Nike’s core running performance shoes.
To support athletes, Nikeplus.com launched today a coaching program designed specifically for those who use running to train for their main sport, a free music SportMusic workout from The All-American Rejects and a 45-second digital short honoring young athletes who get up before the sun to get in their run.
“The Air Max+ 2009 is a superb fusion of iconic style and running performance,” said Phil McCartney, Global Product Director for Nike Running. “Our goal was to maintain the design language pioneered by the Air Max 360 and the Nike Shox series while adding innovation from our core running products.”
Air Max 2009+
The ultra light upper of the Air Max+ 2009 is constructed with Flywire technology. This groundbreaking technology debuted 2008 in Beijing and acts like synthetic tendons to provide targeted support and a dynamic fit. The full-length Cushlon midsole combines plush cushioning with springy resilience for comfort and protection. The full-length, articulated Max Air unit provides maximum cushioning and allows for a smoother, more natural range of motion while running.

Other important features include:
• Removal of the Pebax cage for softer cushioning and protection.
• An engineered heel collar that conforms to heel shape for a plush fit.
• Increased rubber coverage under the Max Air-Sole unit that leads to increased durability.
• A dynamic mesh upper that provides a premium blend of lightweight comfort and breathability.
• Single-layer Ortholite® sockliner with Fitsole geometry that adds a measure of cushioning and support.
• Strategically-placed lugs and a Waffle outsole configuration through the forefoot for optimal traction, durability and cushioning.
• Flex grooves engineered into the midsole and outsole enhance flexibility through propulsion.
The Air Max+ 2009 will be available at retail in the US beginning April, 2009.
