Neal Santos’ Profile

Neal Santos was born and raised in New York City. Having grown up between Washington Heights and the South Bronx he was exposed to some of the world’s most culturally diverse areas throughout his youth. In his teenage years he and his friends would make trips downtown to shop for clothing that was hard to get elsewhere. Eventually he became more involved in the city’s rich subculture, from early 90’s clubbing to skateboarding the busy streets. In 1995 his love for hip-hop led him to a part time job at legendary music outpost Fat Beats. While there he went from working as a salesperson to starting the radio and print media promotion department. Neal was able to turn the department into the company’s main revenue stream and one of the industry’s best promotion teams working on albums by artists such as Big L, KRS-One, Group Home, Big Pun, and Gangstarr. In 2000 he started a new job at clothing retailer Supreme after years of friendship with the company’s staff. A year later he left Supreme to help open the first Nort sneaker boutique as the manager and buyer. While working there he stayed an important part of the Supreme family by modeling for them in the press materials and their coveted and rare catalog, a project he is still involved in as a stylist and casting director. In July of 2005 Neal opened his own retail store in the form of Teamworks , a specialty sneaker boutique located Harlem. Applauded for being the first such business to go outside the downtown comfort zone the store closed two years later. He has spent his time developing a clothing line with the Teamworks name and working on projects with friends like collaborator J. Money. As a freelance designer he is working on several Supreme co-branded products, one which, an Oakley-Supreme collection was released this spring. Neal will be launching the Teamworks clothing line 2007 with a series of shirts that are going to be in 50 specialty clothing boutiques.
