HONG KONG (January 6, 2007) — In celebration of the 25th Anniversary of Air Force 1, the Nike “1 Night of Celebration” Event will be held at Central Star Ferry Pier No. 7, which will be transformed into an AF1 shrine for all to marvel at. “Air Force Love,” a specially hand-picked iconic collection of 100 Air Force 1s, will be unveiled to fashion-savvy partygoers, including pop musicians At 17, Stephanie Cheng, Juno, actor Sam Lee, artist Michael Lau, and celebrity and style guru, Edison Chen.

The exclusive “Air Force Love” exhibition — assembled from the archives at Nike headquarters and devoted collectors — will feature the Top 7 of the “All-Time Favorite AF1s,” as voted by the 150 very special trendsetter guests at the New York’s super-exclusive “1 Night Only” event in December. Other exhibition highlights include the AF1 Lux ‘07 “Anaconda” and “Crocodile” models, retailing at HK$15,999 each, as well as the personal AF1 collection of local collectors.

The party’s Master of Ceremonies will be local celebrity and fashionista, Wyman. Also headlining the event will be New York’s infamous pop-cultural icon, Bobbito Garcia, who will hold the DJ helm in his first-ever performance in Hong Kong. Joining him on the main stage will be pioneering Japanese b-boy Katsu, formerly of the Tokyo Rock Steady Crew, and his specially chosen “Tokyo B-Boy All Stars” — a crew featuring DJ Beat and Style Vale Tudo breakdancers. Representing Hong Kong will be turntablist legend, DJ Tommy, and local music experimentalist FAMA, who will collaborate for a one-off AF1-dedicated song to be specially performed on the night.

Sports will meet music, fashion, lifestyle and iconic reverence at the VIP-guest event, where Hong Kong joins a global honoring of those who created the Air Force 1 and those who continue to define it. Together with the city’s most dedicated lovers of the uniquely crafted piece of perfection, Bobbito, Katsu and DJ Tommy — alongside New York’s global street-culture icons Futura and Stash, and Japan’s legendary Hiroshi Fujiwara — pay respect to the lifestyle and culture that surround the AF1 enigma and its 25-year history.

INTERVIEW PART : FUTURA & STASH

1. futura: You have done quite a number of collaborations and projects with Nike in the past. With 2007 being the 25th Anniversary of the Nike Air Force 1 and we have yet to encounter a pair of Air Force 1 totally done by you, would this shoe be in your line up this year? If not, what kind of products can we expect in your upcoming projects with Nike?

Ans: I would love to do an Air Force 1 but have not discussed this with Nike yet. However, a pair of Dunks is lined up with Nike Skateboarding this year.

2. stash : We have seen your works on the Nike Air Force 1 Hi and Low, will you be doing an Air Force 1 Mid to complete your love for this series?

Ans: That could be possible in the future. With the numerous collaborations Nike have planned for 2007, I am taking a break on the footwear part to allow myself some fresh air.

3. f&s : Over the years, we have seen your works on different Nike shoe models. Are there other Nike shoes which neither of you have worked on before but are interested in doing the magic on them?

Ans: None comes to our mind at the moment.

4. f&s : As most people know, you gentlemen are close friends. Will we be seeing some crossover releases from the two of you?

Ans: As far as sneakers, we are allowing ourselves to breathe through it, so, there will not be anything on this in the near future. In terms of art, we will be collaborating on some artwork for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. As for clothing, there are many possibilities and since we work independently, there isn’t anything in particular that has been planned yet.

5. f&s : Out of the numerous Nike Air Force 1’s produced over the last 25 years, which one is your favorite?

Ans: The next unrevealed special quickstrike release is always our favorite because of the anticipation and the limitless possibilities on choice of fabric combination.

Bobbito Garcia

1. Out of the numerous Nike Air Force 1’s produced over the last 25 years, which ones are your favorites?

Ans: I would have to say the 3 different styles of Kool Bob Love limited edition Air Force 1’s between Nike and I that are going to be released this Spring.

2. We noticed that you have done voice-overs for NBA Street. Do you actually play the video game and if you do, have you ever picked the Nike Air Force 1 to ball in?

Ans: I haven’t played the game before. It was an honor though that the company asked me to do some of the voice-overs.

3. In real life, have you ever worn the Air Force 1 in any ball games that you’ve played in before? If not, what Nike shoes do you normally play in?

Ans: Many. As a matter of fact, I was introduced to the Air Force 1 in 1983 and had played numerous games in them. In my opinion, the Air midsole is superior to phylon midsoles in terms of comfort.

4. We have read that you had ventured in the music & fashion industry before. Do you also collect sneakers? If you do, is the Nike Air Force 1 in your collection? If yes, which pair is your favorite?

Ans: I do not collect shoes, I wear them. I do own quite a number of Air Force 1’s and each pair has been worn, some more often and some others I only wear on special occasions.

5. Do you have any upcoming projects lined up with Nike? If you do, what are they?

Ans: Apart from the Kool Bob Love limited edition, I will be touring with Nike on the Air Force 1 25th Anniversary.

6. With your extensive knowledge on sneakers, would you say the Air Force 1 is the most classic creation of Nike? If not, which Nike shoe model is on the top of your list?

Ans: My favorite is the Nike Franchise, which unfortunately has not been retro’d in its original form.
